Quinta das Ínsuas House
- Located in an area of about 12 000 m2 - Quinta das Insua – is bounded on the east by the Cavalum River. The entire set consists of a two-storey house, supported on a small threshing floor placed on the ground level, a mill and a kitchen.

- In their extremes, two new volumes, to the east and west, create a new set of outdoor courtyards, in a peaceful dialogue with the pre-existence. The west volume, accommodates the social areas, is covered with timber and surrounded by a gallery at the higher elevation.

- By its arrangement on the ground, an inner courtyard makes the articulation of the different volumes, so that they gain unity.

- A natural element, a large boulder, helps to characterize the place and organize the project. This new construction, with a white coating, hosting the five rooms determined by the program, act as the main building.

- The complexity of the structure (concrete) required a strict control of all engineering projects in order to ensure the compatibility of all tasks during the construction.

- The three-dimensional modelling supported the project planning, preventing potential problems at the construction site. In the rectangular field, with approximately 750 m2, was drawn a grid of 3x3 m modules, that created the pattern.

- This matrix determines the implantation site, with almost 300 m2, shaping the house in three parallelepiped volumes.

- The building is therefore a sum of interconnected volumes, which intends to explore the most favourable orientation, considering solar exposure and the constraints imposed by the surroundings.
