The D. Pedro Park in Aveiro was delineated in 1862. This house was built as a Tea House to provide entertainment for the high society of that time. Nowadays, this building is the rehearsal place for the Beiras Philharmonic Orchestra and needed urgent work to re-establish the security and comfort conditions. This construction suffered several interventions over time, but none of them aimed keeping good inhabiting conditions. The walls exhibited rising damp; the roof had broken tiles, allowing rain to enter, and the humidity inside of the building was very high. Being part of the sustainable park project, this intervention also needs to be an example in the implementation of new technologies in a renovation project. Thus, the substitution of the roof tiles, some trusses and the incorporation of insulation was the first step. The integration of the rainwater collector system was planned considering two aspects: the toilets modification (to serve musicians from both sexes) and the pipe renewal (to assure the efficiency of the water system). To fix the humidity problems, a natural ventilation system and one drain water pipeline gravel in an exiting duct was created.
